Springtime Events in Spoleto

23 – 28 March

A weekend full of initiatives for ‘Accade in primavera a Spoleto‘, the programme of events organised by the City of Spoleto in cooperation with local associations and institutions.

Three such appointments will take place at Palazzo Mauri, at the ‘Giosuè Carducci’ City Library.

The first one is scheduled for today in the afternoon at 5 pm. The book Al rogo. L‘ultimo Gran Maestro dei Templari by Gaetano Mollo will be launched at the presence of the author. – EVENT POSTPONED

Two other events will be on Saturday 25 March. At 10.00 am there will be a meeting included in the series “Dal Consultorio familiare alla Biblioteca: Nascere e Crescere…Leggendo!”. The meeting’s focus is clear from its title: Per crescere un bambino ci vuole un intero villaggio. Dialoghi ed esperienze dai nidi comunali, (Italian for “It takes a whole village to raise a child. Dialogues and experiences from the city nurseries“) and will climax into the workshop Let’s build a story together, organised by the city nursery school educators; at 5.00 pm there will be a book presentation: “IDEE CONTAGIOSE. Pandemic, consumerism, fear, money, complexity, crisis… Reflections of a psychoanalyst” by Mauro Benedetti, addresses central themes of our times such as pandemics, consumerism, the crisis of values and the need for a new way of thinking to deal with current and future crises.

Also on Saturday 25, a concert by Claudio Vignali is scheduled at 9.00 pm at the Teatro Caio Melisso “Spazio Carla Fendi”. Vignali is described by critics as “a pianist endowed with an extraordinary classical technique, with a touch full of colours” (A.Tenni), “a pianist of great interpretative skills“, (Montreux International Jazz Piano Competition). In 2013 Vignali won the third prize at the most important international jazz piano competition, the “Parmigiani Montreux International Jazz Piano Solo Competition“, the first prize at the “Onde Sonore International Modern Music Competition“, he was a semi-finalist at the “Nottingham International Jazz Piano Solo Competition” in 2012 and 2014 after being selected both times among 12 jazz pianists worldwide, and was finalist at the “Massimo Urbani Prize“. He has performed in some of the most important Italian and international Festivals, Theatres and Jazz Clubs and his records have been reviewed by some of the most important Italian and international newspapers and magazines including “The Wire” (London) “The Jazz Trail” (New York), “Jazzit“, “Musica Jazz“, “Percorsi Musicali” and many others.

Sunday 26th from 10.00 am there will be Dal Teatro Romano al Teatro Caio Melisso, a trekking of theatres organised by Sistema Museo and Cooperativa Sociale L’Incontro. This will be followed by an aperitif in the theatre foyer bar, which will be reopened on this occasion and will remain open to the public during the scheduled performances.

The cost of the guided tour is € 6.00 in addition to the entrance ticket to the Roman Theatre or the purchase of the Spoleto Card, and the cost of the aperitif is € 5.00.

Also on Sunday 26 at the Teatro Caio Melisso, but at 5 p.m., a certificate of recognition will be presented to Italian dubbing actor and director Pietro Biondi for his commitment in the fields of theatre, cinema and visual arts. Following this, an aperitif will be offered to all participants.

On Monday 27 at 5 p.m., the Villa Redenta primary school, in Via Camillo Bezzi, will hold Nati per Leggere in Primavera | Readings for children aged 0 to 6 with creative workshop. The activity, organised by the city library and the 2nd Circolo Didattico, is free of charge upon booking – please call 0743.218801 or send email to biblioteca.comunale@comune.spoleto.pg.it.

Also on Monday 27, on the occasion of World Theatre Day, at 8.45 p.m. at the Teatro Nuovo ‘Gian Carlo Menotti’, included in the programme of the TSU prose season, there is La madre (The Mother) with Lunetta Savino, a play that investigates with extreme acuity the theme of maternal love and the possible pathological drifts to which it can lead.

Tuesday 28 March at 5 p.m. there will be the first meeting of Scuola per genitori (School for Parents), the six-meeting initiative dedicated to families on the topics that mark the growth path of boys and girls and define the balance in relationships within the family nucleus. The meeting, online, is with the doctor, psychotherapist, researcher and writer Alberto Pellai on the theme “Affectivity and sexuality education for young people: Manual for parents“.
