For the first time ever, the Foligno Science and Philosophy Festival holds a preview in Spoleto.
After last March 16’s Opening at the Vocational School in via Visso, that featured scientific journalist Pietro Greco and geologist and Darwin translator Guido Chiesura, the second appointment is scheduled for Friday 24 March at the San Nicolò Monumental Complex.
The meeting will start at 17.00 and features Medicine Historian at the Rome La Sapienza University Andrea Grignolio, whose lecture focuses on vaccine-related themes.
The various previews of the festival aim at raising awareness on the scientific themes dealt with within the festival, whose central topic is innovation.
Andrea Grignolio teaches History of Medicine at the Roman University “La Sapienza”, and performs researches on the History of Vaccination at the Université Francois Rabelais in Tours, France. His international formation brought him to Paris, Boston and Berkeley, he’s the author of a number of publications and writes on “La Repubblica” and “La Stampa”.
His last publication is Chi ha paura dei vaccini? (Italian for “Who’s afraid of vaccines?Codice Edizioni, 2016).

A tactile guided tour to the exhibition Trame Longobarde tra architettura e tessuti (Longobard wefts between architecture and fabrics) that will become a fun game for the sighted and the blind. The participants will be blindfolded and led in front of the mannequins, which can be explored through touch. Afterwards, the sighted will be asked to draw the dress touched on a sheet, while the blind will be asked to describe what they touched.

Grandparents’ Day
1-2 October 2017 – Spoleto
On 1 and 2 October, the historic center of Spoleto will host the Grandparents’ Day, an event organized by the Associations 50&PIU Perugia and 50&PIU Terni, created within Confcommercio to represent, protect and assist its members in support of active ageing and the enhancement of the role of the elderly within society.
Two days to celebrate the importance of grandparents in families and society by involving children, adults and elderly people in a rich program of initiatives that will animate different places in the city.

Rendez-Vous Danse Française Autumn Events will start on Thursday, October 12, 2017 with a series of workshops and performances of contemporary dance.
All the events have been designed under the art direction of Carole Magnini for Evidanse association, in collaboration with the French Embassy in Rome, French Institute, Francia in scena, Rocca Albornoz-Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto, Roman Theater-Archaeological Museum, Municipality of Spoleto, Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria, Sistema Museo.
Three representative personalities of French contemporary dance will perform and hold training courses: Christine Gérard, Sophie Quénon and Brigitte Hyon. On Thursday, October 12, Christine Gérard and photographer Isabelle Levy-Lehman will hold an intensive workshop on choreographic technique, improvisation and composition (open to everybody) from 10 am to 4 pm at Rocca Albornoz; at 17.00, presentation of Le temps traversé, Christine Gérard and Isabelle Lévy Lehmann’s dance-video duo; at 18, meeting-debate Voyage au cours du temps, Heritage and Contemporaneity through dance.
On Friday, October 13, Gestes – Rendez Vous une Danse pour la terre, on-site performance and video shooting at different city locations.
Saturday, October 14th, another workshop from 10 am to 1 pm.
From November 1 to 5, Gestes – Rendez Vous une Danse pour la terre, on-site performance and video shooting between Spoleto and Valnerina (times and places to be defined) with Sophie Quénon, dancer, teacher, choreographer and founder of Dernier Soupir Company.
On December 2 and 3, again at Rocca Albornoz, a Contemporary Dance Intensive Workshop with choreographer Brigitte Hyon, dancer at Dominique and Françoise Dupuy’s Company, choreographer and teacher (among her students Carole Magnini herself), former director of the RIDC, Françoise and Dominique Dupuy’s training center, and training director at the Centre National de la Danse in Paris.

A project by cultural associations “Spoleto A Colori” and “Il Borgo”
A parade of industrious elves will welcome children to their workshop, where they will learn how to creatively wrap Christmas gifts; joinery, robotics, painting, theatre, dressmaking and cribmaking along Corso Garibaldi, Via dei Gesuiti and Via Portafuga. The start is at the former railway museum, where a visit will take place, and a Promenade will follow, featuring a geologist who will show the main news and features of the former railway. A special “small house” will be erected at Caprareccia, where Santa will patiently wait for all children to arrive.
It is also possible to participate on board of Trenino Dotto, that will leave from the museum of the former railway Spoleto-Norcia at 11.00

Presentation of the project on new visit itineraries and settings at the Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto.
The project was developed by a work group under the coordination of former Museum of the Duchy director Rosaria Mencarelli, composed of Angela Maria Ferroni, Giorgio Flamini, Paola Mercurelli Salari, Mariarosaria Salvatore, Donatella Scortecci, Francesca Stasolla. Architects Emanuela Barberini and Luca Dal Pozzolo also were involved, with the task of applying the museum indications to spatial layouts and supporting the choices related to the organisation of materials with flows and localization analyses.
Featured speeches by director of Polo Museale dell’Umbria Marco Pierini, Spoleto mayor Fabrizio Cardarelli, director of Rocca Albornoz – National Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto Paola Mercurelli Salari, Luca Dal Pozzolo Studioblu (Turin) and Head of Culture at Regione Umbria Fernanda Cecchini.
