A double appointment at the Cinema Sala Pegasus, with the presentation of Alessio Carciofi’s book Digital Detox and the documentary Lo and Behold – Internet: the future is now by Werner Herzog.
An actual “Digital Day” is being organized by Cinema Sala Pegasus and Coworking Spoleto for 16 March. Two appointments to elaborate on the Internet, social media, communication and web marketing, organized with the support of the City of Spoleto.
But, how?
To start with, Spoletan digital strategist and CEO at Digital Detox Alessio Carciofi, will introduce his last book “Digital Detox. Focus and productivity for managers in the era of digital distraction”, published by Hoepli and on sale from 10 March.
The meeting, scheduled at 18.30 at the Cinema Sala Pegasus, will start with a simple, yet challenging question: “What can actually be considered a luxury nowadays?”, which will serve to analyze the values of attention, time and silence, and put them in relation with each other. “Today we’re still convinced that we pay everything through money, but the true currency is the time we can no longer enjoy – wrote recently Alessio Carciofi on the Huffington Post – the true revolution is the relation with time, that very time that flees us as flies away while on a smartphone. The time has come for us to start reflecting on our behaviour and find a new balance”. In his presentation, Alessio Carciofi, who has been dealing with marketing, digital communication, and working for some of the most famous Italian tourism brands since 2009, will face the theme of the Digital Felix, a new method that informs enterprises on the theme of in-company well being.
The second appointment is at 21.00, also at the Cinema Sala Pegasus, and will focus on the projection of the documentary “Lo and Behold – Internet: the future is now”. The vision of German director Werner Herzog’s last work will be introduced by Alessio Carciofi, and will be another occasion to try and understand the Internet’s development, its most charming and contradictory aspects, its future and the limits imposed by being constantly online.

On Monday, January 22th, Irene Baldriga – President of ANISA, Italian Association of Art Historians – will present her book The Right to Beauty, a reflection on art and landscape education as a vehicle for active citizenship values.
The book presentation will take place at Spoleto Public Library, at 16.00.
Art historian Roberto Quirino will discuss the book with the author.
The traditional Spoleto Carnival reaches its 190th edition. The two Carnival parades are scheduled for Sunday 4 and Sunday 11 February, 2018. The special sledge of Santa Claus, made on the occasion of the filming of Don Matteo 11, will open both parades.
As usual, the allegorical floats created by the various quarters and villages will parade through downtown Spoleto on the first Sunday, and through the city’s outskirts in the second one, flanked by masks, folk and musical groups.
From 3 to 13 February, an exhibition – set up at Ex-Monte di Pietà, Via Saffi – will retrace the last 40 years of Spoleto Carnival thanks to various materials, posters, paintings, but also pieces of old carriages. On the occasion of the Lightquake 2017 exhibition, taking place at Spoleto’s Rocca Albornoz, the conference Lo Spazio della Luce (The Space of Light) is scheduled for Friday February 9th. A meeting to discuss how light shapes the urban space, enhancing the architectural value of buildings thus becoming a free sign in the work of art. The meeting will take place at 3 p. m. at Rocca Albornoz.
Nearly one hundred years after the publication of the book Towards a New Architecture by Le Corbusier, where the great Swiss architect speaks of the duality of light as essential for the livability of space and for the plasticity of the building’s architectural form, in recent years we have come to give the same qualitative importance to what artificial light expresses. Le Corbusier wrote that “Architecture is the skillful, appropriate and magnificent game of volumes under light“. Throughout this century, we have been watching the temporal extension of daily visual quality. Darkness has become the blackboard on which to draw new visual forms and revolutionize the concept of lighting through technology.
Paola Mercurelli Salari – Director of Rocca Albornoz – National Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto, Camilla Laureti – Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Spoleto, Gianluca Bellucci – President of Sistema Museo, Maria Luisa Guerrini – President of the Architects’ Professional Association of Perugia and Stefano Mancini – President of the Engineers’ Professional Association of Perugia, will open the conference. The meeting will be chaired by architect Fabio Fabiani (OFARCH Officina d’Architettura).
Following interventions: scenographer Sebastiano Romano with “Light Scenographies in the urban space”, lighting designer Filippo Cannata di Cannata & Partners with “The rooms of light”, professor and engineer Marco Frascarolo of the University of Rome Tre with “Light up the city and its monuments” and professor Gisella Gellini of the Politecnico di Milano Scuola del Design with “LIGHT ART art-design-technology”.
The conference will end with a guided tour of the exhibition Lightquake 2017 “Black Light Art – Lighting Coloring the Dark”, with the co-curator Dr. Claudia Bottini and Sistema Museo.
