Spoleto Fiberart.II – Contaminazioni @ Museo del Costume e del Tessuto e Officina d’Arte&Tessuti
Jun 30 – Jul 31 all-day

Two years past the first exhibition organized by Officina d’Arte&Tessuti in Spoleto, this year it’s the time of Spoleto Fiberart.II – Contaminazioni from 30 June to 31 July.

The exhibition is curated by Maria Giuseppina Caldarola, will be split between the Museo del Costume e del Tessuto and the exhibiting spaces in Via Plinio il Giovane. A single material is the object of the exhibition, the fiber, represented in a huge number of shapes and uses, hence the title Contaminazioni.

Prominent artists, including Lydia Predominato and Anna Moro Lin, will be joined by young artists. This is the result of the collaboration with DARS Udine, an association that promotes and organizes the biennial Libro d’artista exposition, that will present a selection from the 2016 edition. In particular, it will be possible to examine the works of professors and students of the Bologna and Barcelona Academies of Fine Arts, of the Art School of Udine and Cortina d’Ampezzo, and of the Venice International Graphics School. Students and professors of Paper Technology at the Rome and Milan Academies of Fine Arts were also invited, as well as those from the Weaving and Tapestries Sections of the Rome Ornamental Arts School. The association “Arti Tessili”, organizer of the Valcellina Prize, will present four artists from Germany, Poland, Japan, and South Korea.

<!--:it-->190° CARNEVALE DI SPOLETO<!--:--><!--:en-->190th SPOLETO CARNIVAL<!--:--> @ Spoleto | Spoleto | Umbria | Italia

The traditional Spoleto Carnival reaches its 190th edition. The two Carnival parades are scheduled for Sunday 4 and Sunday 11 February, 2018. The special sledge of Santa Claus, made on the occasion of the filming of Don Matteo 11, will open both parades.

As usual, the allegorical floats created by the various quarters and villages will parade through downtown Spoleto on the first Sunday, and through the city’s outskirts in the second one, flanked by masks, folk and musical groups.

From 3 to 13 February, an exhibition – set up at Ex-Monte di Pietà, Via Saffi – will retrace the last 40 years of Spoleto Carnival thanks to various materials, posters, paintings, but also pieces of old carriages. The opening ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 3 at 12.00. Opening times: 10.00-14.30 / 16.00-18.00

The parades:

Sunday 4 February, h 14.30
From via San Carlo through via Matteotti, piazza Libertà, Corso Mazzini, via Tobagi, via Filitteria, largo Gigli, via Vaita Sant’Andrea, via Pierleone, via Cecili, via Anfiteatro, arrival at Piazza Garibaldi.

Sunday 11 February, h 14.30
From via Flaminia through viale Trento e Trieste, via Marconi, via Repubblica, via Risorgimento, arrival at the EMI Supestore (S. Nicolò).

On Tuesday 13 February, a closing feast will be held at San Martino in Trignano’s playground.
