Musica Verde (Italian for “Green Music”) is a full day dedicated to the beauty of what we have at hand. The start will be an early morning hike from Spoleto to Macenano, in Valnerina, that offers breathtaking sights and inner peace when through the woods. Upon arrival, a plain fare lunch will be served on the banks of River Nera. After an hour’s break, pianist  Egidio Flamini will perform his own music, composed while crossing the very same places of the moring hike. The return to Spoleto will be provided through means of transport organized on purpose.

Musica Verde 2016 includes three appointments in May and June, and further three in September and October, with different programmes, different hiking itineraries, lunch menus and musical programmes. The three hikings in the Fall will replicate the Spring ones, unless the organizers will be able to study further itineraries.

HIKING INFORMATION
Average route difficulty.
Please consider the use of proper clothing and shoes.
Please have hiking sticks.
Please bring a change of clothes.
Be provided with backpack with enough provisions for the hike.
Don’t forget a sunhat.
Unfavourable weather forecast will be considered case by case.

On the occasion of the 8th National Day of Mines of 29 May, in the morning there will be a series of meetings at the Morgnano Pro Loco, by the title of Le Miniere di Morgnano – Dalla Chiusura al Museo (Italian for “The Morgnano Mines – From Closure to Museum), organized by Associazione Amici delle Miniere. The afternoon will be dedicated to excursions on the spots of the Morgnano Mines.

Participants will gather at 7:40 in Piazza Campello, hike starts at 8. After crossing the Ponte delle Torri, the path called Giro dei condotti will be taken. The route then includes a mild 2-hour rise along the Valcieca, through the woods until Forcella di Castelmonte (952 m above sea level), then a downward slope of 2.30 h will lead to Ceselli (280 m above sea level). During the descent, you’ll cross the deserted village of Sensati, and enjoy breathtaking sights of Valnerina and the mountains Coscerno, Civitella and Solenne. The last 5 km will be covered in one hour on the flat, along the Valnerina valley line. Stops included, the hike will last 6 hours about.

ROUTE SAN GIULIANO – RAISCHIO – PONTUGLIA
The gathering of participants is at 7.40 by the Church of San Pietro, hike starts at 8.00. The first rise leads to the Church of San Giuliano in half an hour; from there it is possible to enjoy astounding sights of Spoleto and its valley. Then, in 45 minutes about, you reach the small settlement of Le Aie. In this part of the route it is possible to see the Vallecchia and the mountains around the Somma Pass. Once reached Forca delle Porelle, a mild downward slope will lead to Forcella di Castelmonte (952 m above sea level). From there, you will get down for 2.30 hours, passing through almost uninhabited villages such as Raischio and Schioppo, till you reach Puntuglia and Ceselli. The last 5 km will be covered in an hour, on the flat along the Valnerina valley line. Stops included, the hike will last 6 hours roughly.

ROUTE BORGIANO – SCHEGGINO – CESELLI
Participants will gather at 7:40 in Piazza Campello, hike starts at 8. After crossing the Ponte delle Torri, you’ll take the Giro dei Condotti and head out towards Vallocchia and the small village of Borgiano. Wide woods will be crossed in this first part of the route, that will let participants enjoy the sight of the bridge of the former railroad Spoleto-Norcia towards the Caprareccia tunnel. The rise goes on mildly, till you reach Ospedalicchio, after which the route turns downward. While going down to Scheggino, you will enjoy various sights to the east, the Sibillini Mountains National Park. Once in Scheggino, the remaining 11 km will be covered in less than 2 hours on the flat, along the Valnerina valley line. Stops included, the hike will last 6 hours about.

487, written and directed by Thomas Otto Zinzi for the mine of Morgnano, is an original text and national premiere, as part of the Spoleto d’Estate programme. The mine as a scenic space of the future: playwrights’ words rise up from the well where once lignite was extracted.

Thomas Otto Zinzi, director, actor and playwright, winner of the first prize Vallecorsi 2004 with the text “me and te”, returns to the mine after having written and directed “under the floor of the world” in 2013 as part of the Festival dei Due Mondi and 2 other shows in 2014 and 2015.

The Spoleto Archeological Museum and Roman Theatre is hosting the second cycle of conferences Recounting History, a project in collaboration with GraficArte Severini and Astra Onlus.

Intruduced on 24 September by the conference Acqua Aria Fuoco Terra: l’arte di plasmare i metalli by Fabio Fazzini, this second cycle also proposes history, archaeology, archaeometry and art, encompassing a timespan from Protohistory to the Middle Ages.

At each meeting, participants will receive didactic kits and an ebook will be created, featuring last year’s conferences’ contents.

THE KING’S SCEPTERS
Symbols of power in Pre-Roman Spoleto 

Mezz’ora dopo la chiusura, the event organized by Sistema Museo in collaboration with the National Archaeological Museum and the Roman Theater of Spoleto, is back on Friday October 6, 2017 at 19.00 with a thematic visit dedicated to the origins of Spoleto and the ancient Umbrian people.

Through the analysis of extraordinary and recently discovered grave goods, we will discover customs and traditions of Spoleto’s oldest “élites” and their relations with Italic peoples from central and Eastern Italy.

The guided tour will be held thanks to the special collaboration of archaeologist Nicola Bruni (ASTRA – Association for the Study of Territory, Research and Archeology)

The evening continues with a tasting of local products.
The event is organized in collaboration with Con Spoleto – Spoleto hotel managers’ association.
