Amelio, who is also screenwriter, television director and opera director (he will soon resume his staging of Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples) will present to the public his first novel entitled POLITEAMA (published by Mondadori) at 4 pm at the Municipal Library of Spoleto.
Giuseppe Leonelli, professor of Italian literature, literary critic of “La Repubblica” will participate in the presentation.
Afterwards – Sala Frau, 6 pm – Gianni Amelio will present his documentary film FELICE CHI È DIVERSO and – special gift for Spoleto – some unpublished sequences from LA TENEREZZA, his new upcoming movie.

The documentary film 1200 KM DI BELLEZZA (1200 km. of beauty) will be screened at Cinéma Sala Pegasus on Friday, February 24, at 9 pm. A journey through Italy, from Sicily to Trentino Alto Adige, with cinematographic materials from Istituto Luce and other archives, and a close-up on Spoleto.
Directed by Italo Moscati
Produced by Istituto Luce Cinecittà
A meeting with the author, conducted by Anna Leonardi, will follow the screening.
A double appointment at the Cinema Sala Pegasus, with the presentation of Alessio Carciofi’s book Digital Detox and the documentary Lo and Behold – Internet: the future is now by Werner Herzog.
An actual “Digital Day” is being organized by Cinema Sala Pegasus and Coworking Spoleto for 16 March. Two appointments to elaborate on the Internet, social media, communication and web marketing, organized with the support of the City of Spoleto.
But, how?
To start with, Spoletan digital strategist and CEO at Digital Detox Alessio Carciofi, will introduce his last book “Digital Detox. Focus and productivity for managers in the era of digital distraction”, published by Hoepli and on sale from 10 March.
The meeting, scheduled at 18.30 at the Cinema Sala Pegasus, will start with a simple, yet challenging question: “What can actually be considered a luxury nowadays?”, which will serve to analyze the values of attention, time and silence, and put them in relation with each other. “Today we’re still convinced that we pay everything through money, but the true currency is the time we can no longer enjoy – wrote recently Alessio Carciofi on the Huffington Post – the true revolution is the relation with time, that very time that flees us as flies away while on a smartphone. The time has come for us to start reflecting on our behaviour and find a new balance”. In his presentation, Alessio Carciofi, who has been dealing with marketing, digital communication, and working for some of the most famous Italian tourism brands since 2009, will face the theme of the Digital Felix, a new method that informs enterprises on the theme of in-company well being.
The second appointment is at 21.00, also at the Cinema Sala Pegasus, and will focus on the projection of the documentary “Lo and Behold – Internet: the future is now”. The vision of German director Werner Herzog’s last work will be introduced by Alessio Carciofi, and will be another occasion to try and understand the Internet’s development, its most charming and contradictory aspects, its future and the limits imposed by being constantly online.

Wednesday 22 November at 21.30, at the Sala Pegasus, film director Sandro Baldoni will introduce his documentary La botta grossa – Storie da dentro il terremoto.
It is the story of the 30 October 2016 earthquake that hit Central Italy with the strongest shock in 40 years. Baldoni was born and grew in the area of the Sibillini Mountains, devastated by the seismic event.
Starting from his own pulled-down house, and from his own mood, Baldoni travels across the deep fears, traumas, states of anxiety, rage and hopes of the people, in what is a travel from the interior. The meeting will be moderated by Roberto Lazzerini.
The evening will be opened by the short movie Mi vedrai correre (You’ll See Me Running) by independent film-makers ‘The Stairway Production‘ that aims at sending out a message to all those who suffered many a great loss, yet keep on struggling. The short movie was realized by film director Duccio Brunetti and features Riccardo Pompili, Nicolò Marchi, Alessandro Elisei, Diletta Masetti, Mirko Peruzzi, Nicolas Mari. It was selected for participation in the 2018 David di Donatello short movies competition.

La botta grossa – Storie da dentro il terremoto is a story made by those who were forced out of their homes, like its director himself. The story is the same that was told by the media, but it has a different tone that swerves away from the Breaking News. It faithfully talks of what happens in a year to those who lost almost everything. It teaches how to survive while waiting for the recovery. It is not only a matter of pain, loss or dismay; it also includes a flash of the will, of humanity and self-organization. There is no rhetoric, replaced by irony, the warmth of a pun, of a smile. “Stop surviving, start to live!” Let’s all shake up, after the shocks.
Thus Baldoni undertakes his road-movie among dismal roads, forced stayings by the sea in winter, jury-rigged schools, gyms turned to psychologist studios and stories told by the elders, or a hermit who does something that represents thousands. In La botta grossa you cry and you laugh, while rebuilding a sustainable Newmanity. A film that talks of some people somewhere, to all Italian citizens.
Presentation of the book Spoleto Cinema 1969-1971. Myth and Myths of the Seventh Art in the City of the Festival by Antonella Cristina Manni.

The director and journalist Stefano Liberti meets the audience of Spoleto for the presentation of the documentary SOYALISM.
The evening is a Visioni d’Autore special event, in collaboration with Coworking Spoleto
THE DOCUMENTARY
In an increasingly overpopulated world, in the grip of climate change, control of food production has become a huge business for a handful of a few giant companies. Following the pork production chain, from China to Brazil via the United States and Mozambique, the documentary describes the enormous movement of power concentration in the hands of these companies, which is taking hundreds of thousands of small producers out of business and permanently transforming entire landscapes. From intensive mega-breeding in China to the Amazon rainforest threatened by soybean crops developed to feed animals confined to sheds on the other side of the world, this process is undermining the social and environmental balances of the planet.
The film had its world premiere on November 18, 2018 at the International documentary film festival in Amsterdam.
STEFANO LIBERTI
Stefano Liberti is an Italian journalist and director. He directed the documentary “L’inferno dei bimbi stregoni” The hell of witch children, winner of L’Anello Debole award in 2010.
