Eufemia, the one dedicated to the Festival of 1959 at the State Archives of Spoleto, Giacomo Ramaccini’s installation, Deposito d’autore at Casa Menotti and Figurazioni Musicali at the Galleria d’Arte e Tessuti.
Giancarlo Giannini opens the programme – Friday, July 20 (21.15) at the Roman Theatre – with the recital LE PAROLE NOTE, a meeting between literature and music that sees on stage, along with the great actor, the Marco Zurzolo Quartet with accordionist Luciano Biondini as special guest. An event by I Love Spoleto.
On Saturday, July 21 (h. 21.15) the dance show MEDITERRANEA will be staged at the Roman Theatre. A choreographic circumnavigation through the music of cultures overlooking the Mediterranean. A show that was born in 1993 for the Balletto di Toscana and that immediately got a resounding success. An event by I Love Spoleto.
The Kataklò Athletic Dance Theatre will perform in the splendid setting of the Roman Theatre on Friday, July 27 at 21.15 with READY, a show specially designed by Giulia Staccioli, with spectacular choreographies taken from Eureka (2016), Puzzle (2012) and Play (2008), maintaining the dynamic, athletic, poetic and original spirit that has made the Kataklò the most loved and requested Italian company of athletic theater in the world. An event by I Love Spoleto.
Another important dance appointment will take place on Saturday, July 28 at 21.00, still at the Roman Theatre: the Great International Dance Gala tribute to Rudolf Nureyev, by Daniele Cipriani. Eighty years after its birth and twenty-five years after his death, the show is a journey through the most significant stages of the extraordinary artist’s career. The refined multimedia projections by video artist Massimiliano Siccardi will be accompanied, at the beginning, by a rare recording directed by Nureyev. An event by I Love Spoleto.

It is a special event included in the Libro d’Ingresso series, that marks a further step in the artistic collaboration between David Riondino and musician Fabrizio De Rossi Re.
Two concerts at dawn are organized by Umbria Ensemble chamber group, both of which will be held at the Rocca Albornoziana. The first one will take place on Saturday 11 August at 6.10, a tribute to Leonard Bernstein on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the great composer’s birth. The second one, Da Vivaldi ai Beatles, on Saturday 25 August at 6.25, will be a musical journey from Vivaldi to Boccherini, passing through some Beatles’ repertoire, reinterpreted by guitarist Leo Brouwer.
On Friday, August 31 at 21.30, Italian singer Caparezza will perform at the Municipal Stadium, with its Prisoner 709 Tour. The Tour promotes the homonymous seventh studio album by the brilliant artist, songwriter and rapper whose most peculiar expressive feature is stylistic contamination and sound eclecticism. An event by I Love Spoleto.

LE PAROLE NOTE
Featuring Giancarlo Giannini
readings featuring an orchestra and the Marco Zurzolo Quartet
with ARTeM String Quintet
Special guest Luciano Biondini
Giancarlo Giannini’s recital is a peculiar meeting of literature and music. The actor, particularly skilled in text analysis, recites a series of passages and poems by Neruda, Garcia Lorca, Marquez, Shakespeare, Angiolieri, Salinas.
The various authors’ chosen passages all share the same theme: Love, Woman, Passion… Life!
Giancarlo Giannini’s voice will be flanked by a series of previously unissued tracks by Neapolitan saxophonist Marco Zurzolo, performed by his quartet.
Mystic, melancholic, loving, ironic atmospheres in a journey through time, from the 13th century to the present days.
Great emotions, various atmospheres.

THE TOY SHOP
CREST – Coop. teatrale
with Delia De Marco, Valentina Elia, Giuseppe Marzio
text and direction Sandra Novellino and Delia De Marco
The story happens in a toy shop that, as in children’s imagination, come alive and come to life. And, just like it happens in real life, there is a more beautiful doll, an envious one, a teddy bear who falls in love, a jealous soldier, and carousels and little cars that always turn around! A parallel world that helps children experience emotions, switching from joy to disappointment, from melancholy to happiness, from love to resentment. The show is aimed at younger children; it is the result of many years of experience in kindergartens, looking for the most effective theatrical language to address to such a particular and demanding audience.

THE ISLAND OF NEVERLAND… IS NOW A FOREVERLAND
Ass. Culturale Tieffeu
by and with Francesca Prete and Riccardo Toccacielo
direction, sets and puppets by Mario Mirabassi
This is a true, or almost true, story that could take place anywhere, in any city of the world. It is the story of a group of young people and of an abandoned and uncultivated green space, the only one left among buildings and concrete, the last meeting point of the children of the district. But one day that space is taken away from them to build a large gambling center owned by the local boss who dominates the entire city. From here, the story develops with their parents and LIBERA association coming to support the children’s action.

THE MAGNIFICENT IMPOSTOR
Teatro Laboratorio Brescia
by and with Alessandra Domeneghini
directed by Sergio Mascherpa
“What would you have done in my place?” This is the question that Giorgio Perlasca addresses to his interlocutor, to raise many other questions… Would I be able to oppose the horrible facts I am witnessing? Would I risk my life to save unknown people? Would I be able to draw on that part of myself that tries to fight injustice? It is precisely because of the many reflections that his story manages to generate that we want to talk about him again, about the “magnificent impostor”: and we would like to do so because the times we are living in are difficult times, and they often require us to appeal to the moral strength that we carry inside ourselves.

FIABA LUPA
Compagnia Anfiteatro
Sixth appointment with La Domenica dei Sogni: Sunday 10 February at 16.30 at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, Fiaba Lupa by Giampiero Pizzol, directed by Piero Lenardon of Compagnia Anfiteatro; the play is suitable for children aged 4 to 10.
The wolf is possibly the most ubiquitous character in traditional fairy tales, always playing the villain, scary yet somehow enthralling. A comic pair of two clowns is featured in Fiaba Lupa, Mr. Circo Lupesco and Miss Musica Fiaba (Bano Ferrari and Naya Dedemailan). They both yearn for achieving their dreams (becoming a tamer and performing a great trumpet solo live) yet none of them leaves room to the other one, and it’s only thanks to the help of Mr. Bella Idea that they finally settle their disputes and stage a play in which the wolf is the main character.

From www.festivaldispoleto.com:
The sixty-fourth edition of the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi, the first programmed by artistic director Monique Veaute, opens on Friday 25 June 2021. Founded by Gian Carlo Menotti in 1958, Italy’s oldest performing arts festival once again transforms the city of Spoleto into a stage: from 25 June to 11 July, 60 performances, all Italian premieres, feature more than 500 artists from 13 countries in 15 venues, with some of the world’s best artists and companies offering an uninterrupted flow of music, opera, dance, theatre, allowing audiences to discover the unexpected.
Performances, discussions with artists, collateral events and debates shine a light on contemporary society, illuminating its diversity and complexity. This year at Spoleto, the first edition of Rai’s Festival per il sociale places themes including environmental and economic sustainability, social cohesion and inclusion, the role of women, the new generations and the value of memory at the heart of the discussion.
Dante, Stravinskij, Strehler, Pina Bausch and some of the great classics of the theatre repertoire form a bridge between the past and the future, projected forwards in time thanks to the interpretations of great artists and companies from Iván Fisher to Antonio Pappano, from the Budapest Festival Orchestra to the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, from Mourad Merzouki to Angelin Preljocaj, from Francesco Tristano to Brad Mehldau, from Flora Détraz to Jonas&Lander, from Liv Ferracchiati to Lucien Øyen, from Romeo Castellucci to Robert Lepage to Lucia Ronchetti, and by participants in residencies run by La MaMa Spoleto Open and the Accademia Silvio d’Amico.
There are exhibitions at Palazzo Collicola, while discussions organized by Fondazione Carla Fendi, concerts at the Casa Menotti and numerous collateral events introduce visitors to some of the most beautiful hidden corners of this city.
The 64th edition of the Festival of Two Worlds welcomes live audiences in absolute security. While the health situation means there are restrictions on the number of available tickets, a calendar of online appointments will be streamed via the Digital Stage so that those who cannot attend physically can still take part. A festival which brings people together, creating new opportunities for dialogue and reflection.
