The 29th International Dance Competition will take place in Spoleto, at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti from March 30th to April 4th, 2020.

The International Dance Competition is an important display for young dancers and future artists. The competition includes the following sections: classical soloists, modern-contemporary soloists, pas de deux and choreographic composition. The jury is composed of famous choreographers and dancers from all over the world.

The International Dance Competition has become an unmissable event, participated by young dancers from all over the world. It is the only Italian event of its kind to be part of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, that gathers the best international dance competitions on the basis of their artistic quality and successful organization.

The 29th International Dance Competition will take place in Spoleto, at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti from May 28th to June 2nd, 2020.

The International Dance Competition is an important display for young dancers and future artists. The Festival of Two Worlds, founded by M° Gian Carlo Menotti and now directed by Giorgio Ferrara, reaches its 63rd edition.

The review was initially scheduled in the usual period (end June-beginning July), but due to the health emergency linked to Covid-19 it was moved to the weekends 20-30 August and 27-30 August..

Some previews: opening with Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi (August 20th) with direction, scenes and costumes by Pier Luigi Pizzi, and final concert directed by maestro Riccardo Muti (August 30th). In between, in addition to Monica Bellucci’s tribute to Maria Callas (August 27) and the concert of the young pianist Beatrice Rana (August 23), Emma Dante will return to Spoleto with the show-concert I messaggeri (August 21).

Silvia Colasanti will perform Arianna, Fedre and Didone three monodramas for actress, female choir and orchestra, based on text taken from Ovid’s Epistulae Heroidum (22 August). The scenic concert Le creature by Prometeo with original costumes by Roberto Capucci and music by Ludwig van Beethoven will be held in Piazza Duomo and performed by the Orchestra del Carlo Felice di Genova conducted by Andrea Battistoni (August 28), while Luca Zingaretti will perform on the last Saturday of the Festival (29 August) with the reading of La Sirena from the story Lighea by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.
