Itineraries of Soul

Spoleto is where Saint Francis had the dream that would change his life forever (“My Lord, What d’You want me to do?”); here the saint would also found a convent on Monteluco; Spoleto is also the place where one of the two only remaining handwritten letters by Saint Francis is kept (Duomo); it is not a surprize that various pilgrim’s ways would intersect here then, that retrace the same pathways covered by the saint.

The city is also tied to the Valnerina and Saint Benedict from Norcia, as testified to by a number of Benedictine settlements in the city and its outskirts, especially across Monteluco, Spoleto’s sacred mountain.
