OVER A HUNDRED YOUNG PEOPLE ARRIVING IN SPOLETO
The 75th edition of the “Comunità Europea” Singing Contest gets under way in total security. Strict Covid-19 restrictions for all participants and staff. All those who will have access to the competition areas will be subjected to antigenic swabs.
Spoleto, 3rd May 2021 – The “Comunità Europea” Competition for Young Opera Singers kicks off this Wednesday morning in the spaces of the Teatro Nuovo in Spoleto. The competition will take place regularly in attendance on 5, 6, 7 and 8 May 2021. On 9 and 10 May 2021, the free auditions connected to the competition will follow at Villa Redenta, reserved for all young artists who do not meet the requirements indicated in the announcement.
According to the safety protocol drawn up by Spea s.r.l. of Spoleto, thanks to the contribution of industrial experts Luca Stella and Alessandro Virgili, all participants – both competitors and accompanying pianists, jury members and workers involved in the realisation of the event – will have to comply with strict restrictions to prevent contagion from the SARS CoV-2 coronavirus, such as a complete ban on gathering inside and outside the spaces. Daily antigenic swabs will also be carried out – in special areas set up by the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale – thanks to the contribution of Dr Gigliola Casciola and Dr Roberto Ianuale, President of the National Association of State Police – Spoleto section, who has been entrusted with the role of Anti-Covid19 Officer. During the course of the singing competition and the free auditions, the public will not be allowed access, as a precautionary measure against contagion. All real-time updates and communications on the conduct of the singing competition will take place via the website https://www.tls-belli.it/concorso-di-canto/ and the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale social pages https://www.facebook.com/teatroliricosperimentaledispoleto e https://www.instagram.com/teatroliricospoleto/?hl=it.
«Being able to return to the theatre to hold an event such as the Singing Competition – says Director Claudio Lepore – is a great satisfaction for the whole Teatro Lirico Sperimentale. The strict anti-contagion measures in the protocol will allow us to work safely, making the celebrations for the first 75 years of activity of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale a symbol of rebirth for the culture and the territory we live in.»
For the occasion, the Institution has also announced a 10,000.00€ special Prize for the 75th anniversary of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale overall for the first three winners.
A jury of excellence – chaired by the famous soprano Mariella Devia, winner of the competition in 1971 – will be the protagonist of this week in Spoleto. The jury will also include experts in the field among its members – such as famous baritone Renato Bruson, winner in 1961, and musicologist Giancarlo Landini – and representatives of the Artistic Direction of the Institution, Michelangelo Zurletti and Enrico Girardi.
The “European Community” Competition for young opera singers is made possible thanks to the Ministry of Culture – Direzione Generale Spettacolo dal Vivo, Regione Umbria, the City of Spoleto, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Spoleto, the Francesca, Valentina and Luigi Antonini Foundation and with the patronage of the Commission of the European Communities.
