As part of the celebrations for the centenary of the birth of Giovanni Carandente (Naples, 30 August 1920 – Rome, 7 June 2009), the National Committee, specially set up by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, has promoted an international conference to be held in Spoleto on 12-13 November 2020. The aim is to retrace the fundamental stages of Carandente’s multifaceted activity as a scholar, an official and superintendent of the Ministry, a curator and a populariser of art.

The two days of study will be divided into five working groups that, through different perspectives and readings, will be able to restore the variety and quality of the Neapolitan critic’s commitment, stimulating a wide-ranging reflection on the intuitions that have made him one of the most authoritative interpreters and curators of contemporary art.
